About our practice

You will receive a warm welcome to Rosslea Medical Centre, your trusted family practice in Townsville. Maintaining good health is highly important to a happy life. Our goal is to ensure you receive the care and treatment you deserve when you need it most. We provide exceptional quality primary health care GP services for all our patients and their families.

Home visits

Home visits are at the discretion of the GP. Please phone the practice on (07) 4758 0500 to discuss.

After hours care: House call home doctors are highly trained medical professionals who specialise in after-hours medicine and home treatments.

After treating you in your home, the home visiting doctors will then send a report to your regular GP the next business day. This report will contain details of your condition and the treatment you’ve been given.

Family medicine

Family Medicine is comprehensive primary healthcare provided for individuals and families across all ages, genders, diseases and conditions. Care is provided on a continuing basis with an emphasis on disease prevention and health promotion. Your family doctor is an important part of helping manage your family’s health and wellbeing.

Mental health

A holistic approach to healthcare is important including physical, social, spiritual and mental health. Mental healthcare may include but is not limited to medication management, regular counselling, referral to allied health providers as well as preparation and ongoing management of GP mental healthcare plans.

Sports medicine

Both amateur and professional athletes may require treatment by a doctor specialising in sports medicine to optimise performance. Sports medicine may include treatment and prevention of injuries, physical fitness, exercise as well as nutrition planning and rehabilitation.

Women's health

Women’s healthcare may include but is not limited to regular PAP screening, breast checks, referral for mammography and family planning. We also offer fertility counselling and management of menopause. Lifestyle plays an important role in all women’s lives, with healthcare focused on prevention to maintain optimum health.

Men's Health

Men’s healthcare may include but is not limited to prostate screening, family planning options, screening pathology tests and sexual health. Lifestyle plays an important role in all men’s lives and with healthcare focused on prevention to maintain optimum health.

Immunisations

Immunisation protects against a range of preventable diseases and infections. Childhood immunisations, catch up immunisations, travel immunisations and occupational health immunisations are amongst the range of services provided.

Chronic disease & GP managed care plans

Comprehensive and individualised care plans ensure that all aspects of chronic disease are managed including goals to achieve optimal health. Chronic conditions include diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis and arthritis. Chronic pain is amongst the most common conditions that can be supported with the help of a care plan. Some care plan patients are eligible for referral to allied health providers at a subsidised cost.

Travel medicine

It is important to be aware of the latest WHO (World Health Organisation) recommendations for international travel. Travel medicine has a focus on health promotion. It may include travel vaccinations, up to date travel information and malaria prevention. We also offer education and awareness of the local culture or region to help prevent accidents and injuries.

Children’s health checks

Children’s health checks include monitoring development and normal milestones, immunisation and health promotion. With our healthy kids checks for 3–4-year-olds, we can assess readiness for school. We also provide early screening for visual acuity, hearing, coordination as well as motor skills and other areas of development.

Veteran's health

At Rosslea we know and care for our veterans. We have and understand their needs and options of care, and we have quiet areas for those who need it. We accept care dogs and understand coordinated Veterans Care.

Health assessment for over 75’S

A comprehensive annual health check is recommended for all people aged over 75. The health check will identify any health issues and optimise quality of life. Areas assessed may include lifestyle, mobility, medication, nutrition, exercise, safety in the home, care arrangements and support networks.

Occupational & work cover consultations

Our doctors specialise in occupational medicine aim to ensure that high standards of health and safety at work are maintained. Our services include treatment, management and prevention of injuries, return to work planning, pre-employment medicals and work cover consultations. We also offer musculoskeletal and fitness assessments, drug and alcohol assessments and aviation medicals.

Sexual health

How often and when you need to have a check-up depends on your lifestyle and sexual activity. If you haven’t had a sexual health check in the last year or have any concerns for your sexual health, book an appointment. Our highly experiences GPs offer a private and confidential consultation.

Skin checks

Our team of skilled and experienced doctors perform full skin checks and offer skin cancer diagnosis and treatment. Our doctors have the facilities to perform skin biopsy and wide local excision within Rosslea Medical Centre.
